Re: Goose' Hangar 9 F4U-1D bash

It's a very basic canvas to work with and will never be a masterpiece for any Corsair fan, but it will be better than the stock one.Image

Re: Goose' Hangar 9 F4U-1D bash

Ha! You know... scale stuff, bits and pieces... Scale junk includes: * Decent retracts as compared to the stock wire ones. * A scratch built scale retracting tail wheel. * A corrected wing to fuselage joint. * Corrected oil cooler assembly. * A cockpit and full pilot. * Scale landing gear doors. * S...

Goose' Hangar 9 F4U-1D bash

So I will get things started... At 1/8th scale there are few options for Corsairs out there, but I have seen a few modified Hangar 9's and mine is one of them. Out of the box its a fair representation of the might F4U-1D with a couple of areas that need attention, the biggest being the wing to fusel...

Welcome!

Gidday guys...

This section is dedicated to 1/8th scale F4U Corsairs.

At this scale it's fair to say that most if not all, will be radio controlled but please feel free to post anything you build/have.

Lets see it!

Re: Ok guys, what is this bracket for?

Excellent! Thanks a lot. I did some research as well and came to the conclusion that there was 3 variants of the centerline drop tank, the one most often seen on the 1A's has a fore and aft pylon which goes into the forward bracket and the other attaches to the fuselage aft of the intercooler door. ...

Re: Ok guys, what is this bracket for?

Got it, sorry bout that. I have some pictures in a reference book that look like the guys in the field used it for the front support of a Brewster bomb rack and others that look like they show a variation of the centreline drop tank connection point, but no pictures i can say without a doubt. Cheers...

Ok guys, what is this bracket for?

Hey... I'm one day into a two day Corsair ground school program and during todays walk-around someone asked what the bracket under the engine is for. We are using an F4U-1D variant for the school and the bracket is located dead centre, just inside the cowl flap at the bottom. The only picture I can ...
